Hasegawa Su-33 Flanker D Eggplane
This isn't my usual fare, but our club's meeting theme for April (I suppose in honor of Easter) was Eggplanes and Tune Tanks. I happened to be in the local Hobby Town a couple months ago and saw this, and decided, "What the heck!"
I couldn't resist adding a few embellishments - added a HUD and harness to the cockpit, drilled the guns and tail end of the missiles, did some riveting, and added compressor blades. I also cut and deflected some of the control surfaces, and then of course mounted it in flight. (Took a little effort to get the gear doors in position.)
I like the contrast of the semi-glossy camo against the metal and the flat exhaust cans, so decided not to flat-coat everything. Just a little oil grunge on the aft section top and underneath to add some weathering. Fun little project
Wonderful, happy Easter, Greg.
Looks like a fun one, Greg @gkittinger. But is it 1/72nd?
I have wandered thru a Hobby Lobby only twice and both times found some surprising scores in their model/hobby section.
That looks really great !
This looks like it was a good change of pace for you. I’m very impressed by how nice it looks. Have a Happy Easter. We can’t forget the reason for the season.
I have scored a few nice kits at Hobby Lobby. Sadly they closed down our somewhat local Hobby Town several years ago. They kept moving closer to Orlando and farther away from me. It eventually became at least a one hour drive to just get there.
I usually watch the kits at Hobby Lobby until they have a 40 percent discount on their model kits and then I pounce. You can get some really good deals during this time.
Excellent egg plane, Greg! Might try one someday!
Love these little eggs
Great job, Greg. I’ve built several Egg Planes and they are a hoot to do. Because they aren’t meant to be “historically correct”, you can just have fun with the build.
That's a beautiful and funny result, Greg @gkittinger
I did build one of those egg planes, it's fun to do so.
Nicely done Greg! I've done the F-4 egg; it came with a little
phantom figure.
Eggzalant!
