RAF BE2e (LukGraph 1/32 resin kit)
This model is a commission build for the Queenstown Flying Club in South Africa and represents the first aircraft to land there in 1917. The aircraft was flown by Alister Miller as part of a pilot recruitment drive through South Africa for the Royal Flying Corps during World War I. The Queenstown Flying Club has a small museum to commemorate the occasion and this model will be part of the exhibit.
This was the first resin kit that I have tackled and was both challenging and educational at times. The instructions supplied by LukGraph are basic and I relied heavily on the excellent build logs of World War I aircraft available from Mike Norris. These build logs provided valuable assistance with all aspects of the build, from interiors to paint colours and techniques and particularly with rigging - they are to be recommended!
Excellent result, Ken! Especially for your first resin kit!
Thanks! It has given me confidence to tackle another one some day.
That's a spectacular model in every way. Outstanding!
Thanks!
Such a great result, Ken @kenboardman
You tackled the difficulty of resin perfectly.
Well done.
Thanks! I must say that I could not have done it without the assistance of Mike Norris' build logs for WW1 aircraft.
Excellent build, and a really whispy and elegant aircraft. Well done!
Thanks!
