Tamiya P-47D (Dan'l Boone Saipan 1944)
Hey everyone. This is the Tamiya P47D I finally finished after about a year of just sitting there.I'm not a plane guy, so I'm less skilled with them and thus less inspired to work on them when I get spare time. However,I'm pretty happy with how it came out overall.
Build is OTB. Decals are aftermarket and I painted all the yellow and such. Paint is Super Duraluminum from Mr Hobby and Mr Rapid thinner. I did some various pre and post shading work mostly with AK shaders of various colors.
Hope you enjoy it.
Wow, this is really impressive,Graeme @graemestreet
Even though you are not a plane guy, it does definitely look amazing.
Painting and weathering is really awesome.
Much thanks @johnb All weathering is with an airbrush. In fact other than the chipping I did with a toothpick, it's all airbrush. No washes or anything. Not brave enough on this finish.
That is a lovely Jug! You would never know aircraft wasn't your thing...
Thanks @gkittinger. I was about to finish an SR-71 that I was working on, but every single thing went wrong with it. Warped fuselage. Cracked rear stabilizer. Decals that simply would not lay down. I won't say what I did to it, but let's just say it's not the fastest plane in the world anymore. I've learned over the years when there is 3+ major problems with a kit that it's time to wrap it up. Too bad too as I love that plane.
Fantastic Jug, Graeme!
Beautiful..and very well photographed/displayed.
You should do more planes because this is a show stopper. Gorgeous Jug.
Stunning. Thanks for sharing!
Very well done - a good looking Jug!
Great looking P-47 Graeme. I am right there with you on the application of washes, always wanting to try it but in the end not wanting to take a chance on spoiling all the work to that point.
