'Thud'

April 13, 2025 · in Aviation · · 8 · 295

Started in Sept '24 but came to a halt when the thirty-seven year old kit decals and forty-five year old Microscale decals both turned into molecule sized fragments the moment they hit the water.

Now here is Memphis Belle II in all her pigeon-toed, knock-kneed glory - there's just no fixing the stance without investing in a brass, white metal or rigid resin replacement set.

Other than the loadout and new AM decals from Kits-at-War, this is straight from the (1988) box. Mr Color lacquers for the camo, didn't even try to add a wash or weathering as it's only ever going to live in the cabinet. 'Owt much else to say. great nostalgia build.

Cheers from NZ.

  1. A really nice result on this old kit, Ian @ij001
    Well done.

  3. Nice work, Ian. That’s a great little kit.

  4. What a beautiful Thud, Ian!
    Well done!

  5. Nicely done, older decals are always a question mark.

  6. Great job, Ian (@ij001). Your paint and finish look immaculate. You have really brought out the best in this Revell kit. Your build brings back memories. When I graduated from pilot training, they were still handing out a few assignments to F-105Gs. None came down for my class, which was a relief since the assignment was a ticket to Vietnam.

  7. Wow - there's an old kit! Looks good!

  8. Sincerely, thank you to everyone for posting comments. Really appreciate the kind words. Next my Tamiya F-14 is VERY close to finishing now, just the canopy & 'sticky-out bits' to do.

    Cheers from NZ.
