Trumpeter 1:48 Fairey Battle
Finally got around to snapping some pics of my 1:48 Fairey Battle. I found it to be a good build without issue. Landing gear is a bit shaky so handle with care. Never realized how big a critter it was! This is one of the reasons why I like modeling as it gives me a 3d perspective of sizes and shapes. Thank goodness it came with canopy masks. Without those it would have been a bear for me. Have a T-6 on my shelf of doom because of masking issues. Canopy shape problem? My shelf doesn't care! A joy to build and I recommend.
Very nice
Awesome Battle, Chris!
Very nice looking Battle, Chris @champagnecrc
I fully agree with you that building a model gives you so much more insights on how a real aircraft, or other vehicle, is like in real.
A Battle is still on my wishlist and your build does give it a higher priority .
Great build of my one of my fav squadrons RAF.
Nice kit! Yea, big beast and that was its downfall I think. You know Eduard make canopy masks for just about everything (Your T-6)?
Yeah, but I am a cheap son of a gun!
Too big for a light bomber with a 3-man crew? According to the Wikipedia article, it's downfall was that it was slow, despite its Merlin engine, and had too little in the way of defensive weapons.
Canopies can make or break a good model. They are the eyes of the model and are one of the first things people look at. Chris (@champagnecrc), congratulations on making a Goldie locks build. The canopy is smart, tight and clean. Everything works.
Great build, Chris @champagnecrc. Not a beauty but a true 1930ies RAF plane i guess. She would fit perfectly in the early war group build 🙂
Looks really nice, Chris.
Cheers,
Scott
G’day Chris (@champagnecrc),
I thing people are making too much of a fuss about the canopy. It is only a little too flat. Most criticisms seem to point to an overly arched restoration canopy. Period photos show a gently rounded, almost flat prifile.
Great build!
That's very interesting info. For me, If the build looks "right" I am a happy camper.
Nice work, Chris!
Very nice Chris! I want to add more early war British aircraft to my collection. A good 48th scale Battle is one I've waited for a long time for. Hoping that Airfix would do it, but Trumpeter beat them to it, that and the Fulmar too. I hope that canopy masks will become a standard feature from all kit makers in the future. Once again, my compliments on a job well done 👍
That's a good-looking build! Well done.
Very well done!
Nice work Chris - great to see this kit built up!
