Best’s SBD-3 Dauntless Midway 1942 – 1:48 Accurate Miniatures
I built this kit at the tail end of 2024, but decided to post it now since I haven't been very active lately. This build is my representation of the legendary Naval aviator Lt. Richard H. Best's Dauntless, on the U.S.S. Enterprise (CV-6) at the Battle of Midway on 4 June 1942.
Not a ton to add to all the articles of the same build other than I added a chunk of carrier deck for display purposes. I used my standard finishes of Vallejo Model Air and weathering powders. Since the aircraft were fairly new at the time of the engagement I chose to keep the weathering to a minimum.
Thanks for stopping by. Comment away and keep building.
Really nice. I love Accurate Miniatures kits
Very nice work on this.
Thanks Tom. I always feel I’ve done a decent job when you comment.
Have this one in my stash- seeing this is giving me some motivation to get it built this year. Great job on this!
Great looking SBD-3!
G’day Matt (@coondog),
Great build.
(I enjoyed my build so much I bought a second kit.)
Nicely done with the colour modulation.
Liked!
Excellent result, Matt!
Very nice looking Dauntless, Matt @coondog
Well done, Matt!
She looks very good Matt. Iconic aircraft and Pilot. What's not to like 👍
Nice work, Matt!
Another Goldilocks build Matt (@coondog). You've managed to include everything but, the kitchen sink and a oil pan to catch the drippings
Two thumbs up.
Lovely build!
Very nice, Matt. Fine work.
One of my three favorite aircraft, and beautifully done.
Nice build, Matt (@coondog). Glad you are back.
Great Job, Matt. I really love the subtle shading. That AM kit is about as good as it gets...you don't need any extra "fiddly bits" at all for an awesome build. The kit cockpit detail is amazing.
Impressive work, Matt. I have the Accurate Miniatures SBD-5 in my stash. Your work has inspired me to move it to the top of the heap.
A real beauty!
