Me262 b1a/U1 "Red 9"(Revell Ag 1/72)
I know there are more modern kits of this version, however I had this in my stash and decided to build it. Surprisingly the Revell kit, despite its age, is still a very good kit.
I did some scratch built to improve the kit though, opened the wheel wells and detailed its interior, scratch-built the antennas, cut open and polished the canopy, used an old PE set to spruce up the cockpit interior. Used Xtra Decals for the Red 9 version.
Amazing work on this tiny scale 262, Paulo @armouredsprue
How did you get the mottling done this precisely at such a small scale. Is it free handed or did you use masks for that.
Hi John
Yes the mottling was free hand painting using Gunze Mt Colour acrylic paint. Airbrushed with H&S Infinity 0.15 needle.
That's even more impressive, Paulo @armouredsprue
How much did you thin the paint and at what pressure did you apply it. I'm not sure if my airbrush can achieve this fine level.
Fantastic result, Paulo!
Thank you
This is an absolute stunner. Great choice of subject too, the two-seater nightfighter. I've had the privilege of seeing what I understand to be the only surviving example in the world up close, and it's a very impressive aircraft.
Thanks mate. I only had the opportunity to see ip and close with the fighter version that yhe Australian War Memorial has on display. Still with its original painting scheme
Awesome build on that little beast - looks great!
Thank you
That is another beauty - especially like the mottled paintwork, in 1/72 no less!
Thanks Greg
The paint scheme is what attracts me most to german aircraft WWII
