REVELL 1/32 HAWKER HARRIER Gr1
I've always been keen on the Hawker Harrier "Jump-Jet", so, being glutton for punishment I purchased this kit from a local charity shop for just £20.00. I personally like Revell kits (do i need professional help?) so was looking forward to getting started.
first job was to do something with the "engine", so out with various thicknesses of wire, buts if scrap PE and i personally think it looks a lot better.
Next was the cockpit and ejection seat. again wires were added along with a pre-painted ejection seat PE set (slightly too small, but hardy noticeable.)
As many vents, holes etc were either cut out and PE grills added, or just left open (the engine flaps and Arden Cannon barrel etc)
I also added various wires to the undercarriages, and a couple of crafting embellishment "gems" for landing lights.
The entire airframe was then primed and subtle pre shading was applied. Several thin dark grey coats were applied, the the whole thing was masked with "Blu-Tak" worms and tape before the dark green was added.
The decals went down a treat, BUT, the instructions have the decals for the drop tanks and rocket pods in the wrong position, so unfortunately they are on the inside of the pieces, and not the outside ( i only notice after id applied them and sealed with a satin varnish...oh well, cut off the locating tabs, switch left to right and glue in place. I wont tell!)
Overall, i'm pretty please with the outcome, i just wish i had the skill/courage to attempt to re-scribe the raised panel lines, somebody with the skill should attempt this for a better outcome.
Hope you all like my latest offering
