Tamiya 1/6 Gorilla Spring Collection mini bike

May 31, 2025 · in Automotive · · 18 · 115

this was a fun kit fairly simple, but a ton of chrome and a lot of scraping : /

I discover that I could use 's Metal Primer to coat the chrome parts that need to be painted, this saved stripping the chrome and it worked like a charm. It goes on a bit heavy so I needed to go easy with it.

So all the black has chrome under it, except the tires ; )

So here are the pics and I will be starting a brand new project this weekend. Check out the motorcycle group for details : )

  1. Really nice, Cricket (@bikequeen). I think this is one of your best, so far. Each is better than the other.

  3. Wow, that was quick, Cricket. Painting over the chrome worked very well, a gorgeous Gorilla.

  4. A wonderful result, Cricket @bikequeen
Not an easy task to keep all that chrome shiny.

    • @john Thank you John. I have a a package of thin white cotton gloves I used to handle negative, and as Crome fingerprints really easy or scratches easy too I used the gloves they worked well, it’s pretty there was a black version of it but that meant I had to strip or paint all the chrome….No way : )

  5. Well done. Matches the nails! 😎

    • @gwskat LOL…they need to be redone, waiting on new colors but they are coming from china so lord knows when they will get here so i guess i will have to use what i have ; )

  6. This isn't a model, but a real motorcycle shot with a miniaturization ray gun. Looks as if you can start her up and head out to the beach. Awesome job!.

  7. Talk about a trip to Chrome City! Another trophy build, Cricket @bikequeen., Yes, white gloves are indispensable! Totally eliminates fingerprint issues.

  8. Looks great Cricket.
