Twin Big Gun: 1/48th Monogram B-25H Mitchell

May 15, 2025 · in Aviation · · 14 · 307

This 1/48th Monogram B-25H Mitchell kit is still a go-to option despite its great age. The shape and overall detail is good you could certainly add scratch build or aftermarket items to bring out the best in this aircraft model. Considering its reasonable cost and availability, I would still recommend this kit.

I finished my kit in the markings of a Mitchell from 82nd BS / 12th BG named "Vikin's Vicious Virgin" as I liked the animated nose as well as the nose art on this one.

If you want a higher grade B-25 Mitchell base to start with, the Accurate Miniatures Mitchells were excellent. (These same moulds were later released by Italeri and Academy.)

You can see more in-depth detail of this build with additional photos at: https://www.flypastrush.com/post/twin-big-gun-1-48th-monogram-b-25h-mitchell

Thanks for looking & good luck on your next build.

  1. Excellent work on this Mitchell, @flypastrush
I will be happy if my current, in progress, Mitchell will look half as nice as yours.

    • Just checked out your Mitchell build John (@johnb) That is looking good. The AM kit is very nice. I am hoping to get their B-25C/D Mitchell started later this year. I have mine slated for RCAF markings. That is a nice choice of Dutch livery you have going on your build (Very rare indeed.) Thanks again for your kind comments - Cheers

  2. Nicely done, FPR

  3. Gotta love a Mitchell - well done!

    • Yeah, it was a nice twin with a lot of variations for a build Greg. I have the AM Mitchell kit ready to go for later this year (Got to get a few others finished first though!)

  4. Nicely done.

For those interested, both this B-25H nose and the B-25J gun nose fit perfectly onto the HK B-25 kit.

  5. Looks great! That nose art is really eye catching.

  6. Love your hanger photos. Makes them all look so good.

    • The Hangar backdrop evolved from wanting something a bit more fitting for a photo background. I do like the end result and want to put more work into the Hangar, whenever I can find some time - Thanks for your comments Matt - Cheers

  7. An excellent B-25!
    Well done!

  8. B(eautiful)-25 and ditto nose-art!
