1:48 Airfix and Academy Supermarine Spitfire Mk.XIV in Civilian Schemes

Built these two Spits using the 1:48 Airfix Mk.XIV Civilian Schemes kit. Went together splendidly with the Canadian markings. I decided that the decals were good enough to do the other scheme. I have several of the Academy Spitfire Mk.XIVs so I used one to do the Classic Air Display's red scheme. You can certainly see a difference in the two kits. The Academy kit seems a bit "chunkier". but it goes together really well and is an enjoyable build. Both were a great spend of my time!

  1. Really nice looking Spitfires. I did #80 eight years ago. As you said, the Airfix kit is a little off but at the end of the day, it looks like a Spitfire

  8. Excellent work on both. I agree with Tom, that Academy kit is a real dog and you made it shine.
