1972 Lotus 1/12 scale kit by Tamiya
Well this is my 70th post! The 1972 Lotus F1 car, this was the most difficult of all the Tamiya vintage F1 cars that I have done, and I have done most of them. The front suspension was one for the record books and took me 4 days of cussing and screaming, the rear suspension was no walk in the park either. If you are wanting to try these big Tamiya kits for the first time, don't do this one lol. Black paint is always hard to get right, and this paint took lots of polishing and looks much better in person. The decals, ooohhhh the decals, are a pain, small pin stripes are always hard to get perfectly straight, and on this kit there are tons, luckily the decals were fairly thick and did not fold up onto themselves and reacted good to solvent.
Anyhoo, heres to 70 posts, I hope you have enjoyed my builds thus far. Next up a Zoukei Mura F-4 Phantom!
Great work on one of the best looking Formula One cars ever in that classic livery. I see that Tamiya has deleted all of the 1/12 cars from their on-line catalogue, so buy them while you can.
Yes sir! Get them while they last! Lol. Thanks George!
Fantastic result, Rick!
Wonderful!
Thanks my friend!
Beautiful work, Rick @rickschad
The gold/black combination has always been one of my favorite looks.
I agree! Iconic! Thanks John!
