BFW M.23b
Here’s my latest build, the BFW M.23b from Brengun in 1:48. A simple, well engineered resin kit with nice details. My only additions were pushrods for the cylinders made from fine brass wire and a couple of pins for added strength for joining the wings to the fuselage. An enjoyable, trouble free build.
The BFW M.23 (M for Messerschmitt) was a two-seat sporting aircraft designed by Willy Messerschmitt in the 1920’s as a follow-on to the earlier M.19 in response to a specification issued in 1929 by the German Aero Club. Examples of the M.23 won several prestigious races in 1929 and 1930. A wide variety of engines were used, both inline and radials. Approximately 74 variants that appeared on the German Civil Register were bought by flying clubs and individual owners for trainers or recreation use. Ernst Udet flew the M.23c on several well publicized flights to Africa and Greenland. Approximately 26 M.23b variants appeared on the Romanian civil register, 14 of which were produced by ICAR under license The subject of this build used the 5-cylinder Armstrong-Siddeley Genet engine of 86 hp.
Another one I wouldn't have expected to see in model form. Done to your usual standard of excellence, Chas.
Really cool
Very nice, Chas (@chasbunch). I suspect that building a fully resin kit isn't quite as easy as you make it look. Well done.
That's an excellent result - a very interesting little prototype as well.
Congratulations, Chas! An excellent model!
Very nice build of a not so often seen model, Chas @chasbunch
Well done.
Fantastic work on a unique subject
Love these 1920s and 30s aircraft. There is something about the shapes and colour schemes that just does not translate to modern aircraft. Nice result.
Enjoy the photo compositions. Look very nice!
I've never seen this type built as a model before. Precisely built and very interesting.
Yep - that's a "new to me" aircraft! That baby has some wings! Looks great!
Chas, this is a beauty of a build, plus a great subject to present!
Classy looking build, Chas. Well done!
Nice pics as well.
Cool photos!
Beautiful! And what a lovely subject!
