1/48 Tamiya Lockheed F-5 Recon Lightning

October 22, 2025 · in Aviation · 13 · 353

Fresh off the bench 1/48 Taamiya F5 . Very simple conversion to do . The marking was suppose to be colorful fron print scale but the decals went to c**p after they fell apart in pieces. So i went with basic markings and it still turned out great . I used a Tamiya mix for the PRU blue mix . For a wash used a Mid Ammo deep grey which was perfect fothe the color .

  2. Brian, Very nice. Thanks for the inspiration.

  3. A pity about the first set of decals but the current ones do give it a great look as well, Brian @f-104nut
    Well done.

  4. That's really cool! I had the same experience with Print Scale decals for a Spad.

  5. Nicely done, Brian

  6. The model looks great ! I’ve tried to use print scale decals twice in the past, both times they broke in to pieces in the water. They have some nice subjects, but they need to improve their product,

  7. Looks good - I like the 38 in that scheme - nicely different!

  8. Very good looking, Brian. You really dialed in the paint finish. Always wondered if Print Scale decals are any good. Now I know to take a pass .

  9. Fantastic result, Brian.

  10. Very nicely done Brian. The PRU blue is a difficult thing color to get dialed in but yours looks just right to me. And on closer examination, I really like the inner canopy frame chromate green.

  11. Very nice finish! Looks really good.
