Airfix 1/72 Typhoon A02041B
Here is the latest Airfix Typhoon and is out of the box. This latest version has new decals. It builds up nicely, but care is needed since the tolerances are tight. I used Tamiya RAF colors and a mask for the camo. I thought the kit had open gun bays and that kept me from buying it. The gun bays can be displayed open, but require minor cutting. I opted for closed bays.
The engineering is good and includes detailed cockpit bits.
I enjoyed this kit and recommend it.
PS I've included the original 1959 kit I built several years ago.

Looks great , David @thevid , you did nice work on both of them.
thank you Jay!
That huge 4-Blade prop always makes me take a second look, and then I remember...oh yeah, 24 cylinders!
Very nice work on both builds, David. The newer Airfix kit looks excellent.
Thanks! I was very careful with fitting and assembling the kit. It builds up nicely.
Very nice build, David @thevid
The new Airfix kits are really nice to work with.
Your '59 kit does look amazing as well
thank you John. One is over engineered and one is very basic. Both can be built up nicely.
Excellent outcome David, the two will go well together.
Thank you. I love building comparisons.
Excellent result, David!
Thank you Spiros!
Great looking build, David @thevid! I was wondering what the new schemes are like. "Sheila" looks great!
After seeing so many reviews on it I decided to build one. Thanks.
Nicely done David @thevid .
thank you Allan.
Well done!
Thank you Gary.
The latest is great and the original looks very good too. The box indicates Airfix supports the restoration of RB396. It would be spectacular if that group can achieve its purpose.
I hope so. That would be something to see it take out traffic on bottle necks! 🙂 I would love to hear the engine.
Well done, David. The ‘59 kit is no slouch either!
Thanks. I was surprised when I put the parts of the original up against a plan and they matched very good. That's when I decided to build.
