I have been building plastic models for most of my life Started out as a kid, got sidetracked by girls, marriage and kids, (But I never stopped building though…) then got back into it in the early 80’s…

I really got serious about HOW I build after reading a Kalmbach book titled, “How to Build Scale Models” by Roscoe Creed. It’s written in plain English, and it’s written to someone who really had no idea how to make, “those seams go away.” From there the rest is history.

Mostly I build aircraft, but I have started to dabble with some armor and ships. we’ll see how that turns out!

I’ve met many great folks while enjoying this hobby and hopefully will meet a few more from this website. I LOVE the low key approach, and the complete lack of whining that can be seen on other sites.

Thanks for having me aboard!!

Brewster F2A-3, “Buffalo”

Next, is the 1/48th scale Tamiya kit. This model represents the aircraft flown by Major Floyd B. "Red" Parks, C.O. of VMF-221. Major Parks led the young pilots of VMF-221 against the incoming Japanese strike force. The inital attack came as a[...]

Hey Folks! Kicking off my contributions to this awesome Group Build, (Thank you Louis, for organizing, Martin for allowing, and Chuck for that beautiful introduction and dedication) Is the mount of Lt Tomonaga Joichi, who led the first strike a[...]

Coral Sea, Part Three: Douglas SBD-3, Dauntless

Coral Sea, Part One: Mitsubishi A5M4, Type 96, Carrier Fighter…

With the Battle of Midway Group Build being close to it's reveal, I thought it would be proper to also include the "Other" carrier battle that took place, only a month earlier, in the Coral Sea. Much of what occurred during Coral Sea, had a dir[...]

Tamiya, 1:48 scale F4F-4 “Wildcat”: My First Build of this kit…

Before Tamiya released their 1:48 scale F4F-4 "Wildcat", there was only the old Monogram kit. The Monogram kit was little more than a toy, having folding wings and other "Features" that just made the kit a very inaccurate model of Grumman's stu[...]

Hasegawa 1:48 Scale, Nakajima B5N2, Type 97, Model 3, Carrier Attack Plane.

Another kit that was really a great time building. Typical Hasegawa quality product, and one of their fairly new Japanese subject line. I think these are a labor of love and a source of nation pride! Even the horrible decals of the past are g[...]

Hobby Boss, 1:48 Scale, IAR-80, Romanian Air Force

Hey Folks! Over the last couple weeks, I have been pretty busy building...actually got a few finished in time for the IPMS/USA Region One Show and Contest. I found that, overall, this was a decent little model kit. It went together well. F[...]

Tamiya, 1:48 scale F4F-4 “Wildcat”

Another kit I finished this weekend... I'm sure we all have built this model at one time or another, maybe even more than once as in my case. So, I will not go through the kit details, but suffice to say, it's a Tamiya kit, and it builds very [...]
