Building, painting and finishing scale aircraft models.
I never thought I would see this airplane in a mainstream injection-molded kit, but all things do come to them as waits. As with all other WNW kits, following the instructions leads to a great model. It's really impossible to laud them [...]
One of WNW's first kits. Comparing it with later ones you can see there's a definite learning curve, but don't worry, the kit is really worthwhile. I used the True Details conversion to make James McCudden's S.E.5a, with Pheon Decals [...]
Have I mentioned I looooooove WNW kits (thank you Sir Peter and Richard Alexander for letting me review them).
I don't know why, but I have always thought the R.E.8 looked neat since i ran across Wylam's drawings in Model Airplane News way [...]
Hello,
This was my fist attempt at a major conversion to get a nice looking F4U-4 in 1/48. It was not an easy conversion as some of the CMK resin shrank but eventually, with a little work and some Ultracast flaps, it all came together. [...]
My first completed model in 30 years, it's not 100% accurate and I've yet to add the aerial but I'm happy with how it turned out.
Airfix 1:48 club Me109 kit with Eduard PE and after market decals, airbrushed with Humbrol enamels.
[Edit: [...]
This is my first WWI model in 1:32 scale. The kit is superb, however I added some scratch built on the engine. Rigging was made of monofilament thread and scratch made turnbuckles.
Painted with Gunze acrylics and weathered with oils. The [...]
I took up the challenge of a few commission builds, for a chap who builds R/C. His mission brief was for reference kits in 1:48th of RNZAF a/c used in the PTO. Normally his preference was for moderate weathering. However, due to the [...]
One of the great Wingnut Wings kits, the first one to sell out (so where are all the other built-ups?)
As with all the other WNW kits, commit the revolutionary act of actually reading the very good instructions and following them, and you [...]
Built a few months ago (reviewed in detail at Modeling Madness), using the A2Zee conversion set for the Special Hobby kit (which had been sitting around since 2007 till I got this set which increased the interest level). The big deal was [...]
This was one of my first forays into AMS and kit bashing. I started with a Special Hobbies 1/48 F2G Racer, and added the wings from an Academy 1/48 F4U-1A, because I wanted the flaps down, and I wasn't about to chop up a Tamiya kit. I do [...]
