Some shots of the work done on Monday. The cockpit finally got done. Again I had to undo the work done by the previous builder, take apart, clean the parts, paint and put it back together. Since the clear parts are really thick I did not put in much details but I did add seat belts to the seats and painted the instrument panel.

Then I glued the fuselage together. Then the wings and tail-planes were glued into place. As you can see, the bottom wing roots has some gaps to fill in.

These shots show the work done on Tuesday. The forward bombardier section was glued together, and the same for the rear gunner's section. When the glue was dry enough, I then glued both sections to the fuselage.

I am going to be honest with you, I love the Matchbox kits but the engineering put into building this particular model is lousy! Enough of my belly aching and I will press on with the build!

    Some good progress, Bob @v1pro
A wise decision to not go too extreme in details on the interior with those thick clear parts.
Quite some gaps indeed but for sure you will get those filled nicely.

John @johnb, yes I decided the best thing to do on this build it to focus on the exterior. Most bombers in general are hard to see what is going on inside, especially after the fuselage halves are glued together.

With the gaps, I have already filled it with some cut strips of styrene and different widths of stretch sprue.

Excellent job so far, my friend @v1pro! Yes, great decision to focus on the exterior.

You’re make great headway of this model, Bob, @v1pro . Having to undo work of a previous modeler only adds to the difficulty.

I’ve always seen the super detailed interiors of models of airplanes like B-17s of dubious value since they are often not visible once the fuselage halves are closed up. Of course many other modelers would disagree with me.

Jay @ssgt, they should bring in a Phantom series of kits, so all of its internal details can be seen like the way Monogram did with their 1/32 Mustang and Huey Helicopter many years ago. My father and I built the Huey and had a blast with it.

I think Tamiya had a MiG-15 like that.

When I went to the Air Force museum in Ohio , there was a F-86 that had all the skin drilled off. That was kind of a cool display … I kinda felt sorry for the airplane though.
