These birds looked pretty "weathered" by looking at seasonal pics, so I did not restrain myself weathering the Spit (even if it was the CO's bird 🙂 ). I could only imagine those planes continuously operating in desert conditions with the dust adhering everywhere (especially wherever oil, hydraulic fluid or grease would leak), sand blasting the blade and wing leading edges (among other spots), engine staining aft of the exhausts and so on. Those were harsh conditions!
