Spit dries after the second clear X-22 layer, and I am thinking about the next project as my BP706 is slowly towards the end. Here's a question for you. What's next? After a very long reflection, I think that at the beginning I will return to the Spitfire Airfix, because the spare parts have already arrived and from the point of view of what the model proposes, it is the best choice for the 4xHispano, and external fuel tank version with USS Wasp. I mean K @ 1 or G @ 2. The marking of these machines is quite puzzling. Why was it like that?

The heroes of these machines are William A. Douglas, a Scot and Dennis Barnham. The latter is particularly interesting as he was an artist. His military graphics and paintings are very interesting. Oddly enough, Dennis Barnham is recognized as the KIA on the pilot list, although I found the date of his death 1981 on the internet. Were there two people with the same personal details?

PS. I found one more: F/S Reid, Donald George, and he probalby flew BR294 GL@E. Question is this markings was done on USS Wasp? Last photo is probably BR294. KP suggest that BR294 had two tone sheme Dark Slate Grey&Exra Dark Sea Grey.

    edit:

F/S DODD, Wilbert George also flew on BR294.

In this build, bearing in mind the problems with the correct geometry of the wheels, I decided to attach the covers after mounting the landing gear to the fuselage. Hope to be happy with this ideas. This time wheels without fireworks, straight from the box. However, they are really good. Better than airfix.

These wheels look nice, very sufficient out of the box, my friend @lis!

I think it is OK. if you ever take a Spitfire KP model to build, first install the landing gear to the fuselage, then mount the wheel covers. The mounting pins are evidently in the wrong places. If you follow the instructions it will be a nightmare, as I had with previous KP / AZ Spitfire projects. You can see art up to three times ...

PS. the fit and masking of the fairing before painting also proved to be effective. It turned out perfectly well. But as expected, you can't see anything through the glazing. Even if the interior was bare like the Hasegawa model, nothing would be seen. And the hand-painted instrument panel is completely invisible. The only thing that can be seen is the pilot's seat with belts, the armored plate and the sight. In fact, the construction of the OOB is completely advisable here.

Work is done! It was a very informative build, but more focused and focused than the Spitfire Airfix. Fortunately, we have reached the lucky finale. Tomorrow, when I cool down and pass the third hurricane in a row this year, I'll take some photos outdoors and write something on headnews. from a series of recent photos in the light of only a table lamp, you can see the outline of the original desert camouflage.

I love the photo's. Anything that shows the aircraft on the ground from a pilots view on the tarmac or on the Island adds to the look of the model. The wheels look good and the canopy is crisp and clear. Another one bites the dust . . . Lookin Good LIs.

There was a ceremonial opening of the box. Very interesting content. Resin gun barrels, photo-etched cockpit parts. Very good interior details. However, I hoped that the fuselage itself would be as precise as in the KP mode. Canopy is crisp and clear, and we have viewfinder also. However, there is a flash here (KP has very little of flash), some of the solutions seem to be not well thought out, e.g. remains of the injection mold in the recesses of the chassis. When it comes to rivets, it is much worse than in the KP model. On the other hand, techmod decals definitely exceed KP quality. The set includes probably all possible Spitfire Vc options. There are two types of air intakes (tropical and regular), two types of propellers and spinners. There are even short wing tips for those who feel like surgeons and can trim their wings. I tried this art and it was a nightmare to eliminate all traces of cutting and gluing. it seems that the sword model is in some ways inferior to the KP model. For example, no mounting pins for the rear ballasts. Therefore, I am very interested in foldability. I wonder what model to go for now, because this one is very tempting, but after the KP model I think I need something light, which folds well and quickly, like the Airfix model. What are your opinions what to choose?

Great stuff in the box, my friend @lis!
Maybe you should go for the Airfix (as a "light' job, having a break), and "test" yourself for how long you can stay away from the full of goodies Sword kit... 🙂

Indeed a box containing a lot of sweets, Lis @lis
A bit of relaxation with an Airfix kit might be helpful before starting this wonderful kit.

Just before I ended KP Spitfire I recived parcel from Airfix with spare part. I must admit that Airfix complaint service is at a high level. Got a very nice email apologizing for the inconvenience, and another one that a parcel was sent to me (which cost me EUR 2 customs duty which I paid to the postman). So I can start my nev project with Spitfire Vc Airfix. On the photo you can see how good is Airfix cockpit. Of course seatbelts are Aftermarket goods.

How generous from Airfix, Lis @lis
The cockpit does indeed look great.
