Don't think I would fancy going in on of these at any speed ,sorry for not adding something to give a sense of scale, but if it helps the graph paper in some of the pics is in inches , the fuselage is a little under 12" long.

Most kind, but I wouldn't dream of putting you to any trouble ,just put it to one side and if I'm ever passing your place I'll pick it up .

Tank has stalled! Finished my Hurricane today so i'll post it up in due course. Might have to try getting replacement wheels via Airfix for the Tiger.

Hey Gregster, sorry about the tank,I've had a look in the stash and I have another glider it's an Italieri Hadrian (Waco) and an Airfix rescue launch ,both are started but only a little and are complete ,though I will recheck that ,you can have either for what I paid which was £5 and £3 plus postage so about a tenner .I don't have a huge stash of kits and usually only buy what I really want to build but if you want one of these your welcome but no probs if you don't I'm not particularly looking to offload stuff.

    Cheers N.

Cheers N. very kind of you to offer but if the Mrs sees any more kits coming thru' the door i'll get lynched! I will finish the Tiger, and the P-38 for the D-day build. I'm just taking a bit of time to reconsider before getting stuck back into it. The RAF rescue launch is a nice kit. Did you just go off it?

No quite the opposite, I didn't start either of them, the Waco was picked up at Hinkley model show and the Rescue launch was off Mark Housley, when I say started its only barely started just pieces off sprues and a few bits glued together.I saw a finished rescue launch on this site a while back and thought wow I want one, so when I was at Marks and saw two of them sat there it came home with me.

Let me know if you change your mind, the Waco would be the quickest to finish.

Chapter 6 of my Airspeed Horsa build,I am sorry to say this is where it all started to go wrong, in the words of Holly the ships computer from Red Dwarf ,I Flamingo'd up, it's like a cock up but much ,much bigger. I knew those stripes would be a challenge and I think that is why I lost my concentration , in a nutshell I marked up the stripes at 13mm each when they should have been 11 mm, 2mm doesn't sound much you may be thinking but over 5 stripes that makes the whole thing 1cm too big, if I'm honest the wings didn't look too bad but the fuselage was totaly wrong, I thought about just re-doing them and leaving the wings but it's one thing realising a mistake when a build is finished and it's too late to do anything but knowing it's there halfway through and just ignoring it is quite another, right ? anyhow I masked up the whole aircraft using Tamiya tape along the edges and then kitchen clingfilm and sprayed the whole of the three area's white then masked up again for the black and then masked up again to make good the camo ,so now a week later here I am back where I started !

The next stage will be sealing the matt paint with Johnsons and decaling then another coat of johnsons before the final varnish. As I am going to attempt a dio my next instalments will probably cover that so I am really only halfway through my build

Looking good Neil :). Everyone seems to have a bit of bother with the stripes! Unavoidable with a D-Day subject unless its a tank or a ship!

Oh well Neil at least it was repairable, I shall tke care when masking up to put the stripes on my build.
    Still looking good though.

Simes, I was thinking it might be a good idea to do the stripes first, then you would know if they were right before continuing , then once the paint is properly dry mask them up, anyone got any suggestions ?

Maybe so Neil. I am thinking about that and the placement of the stripes.
Time for a musing I say.

Where's the fun unless you have to do the same thing two or three times? Like in golf " a good save can make your day"
