May of us have already discovered and used the possibility to rate (assign points to) individual models on display in the Headlines section.
Rating someone else's work is always a sensitive matter, and we want it to be taken as seriously as is possible within a framework of this (hobby) community.
We have reviewed how the rating was conducted during this month. Users may have noted that during the period, both rating and commentary has been open to anyone visiting iModeler, not only registered users.
Having reviewed the results of the month, we have noted that votes from the general public tend to be more critical than those of the registered members who vote in their own name. More seriously, as one of the users alerted us, we discovered one or two cases of rating abuse - same anonymous visitor setting a "1" across a seemingly random variety of subjects.
We have now restricted the rating functionality so that only logged in users will be available to rate the articles. Casual visitors will still be able to see the rating, but not vote.
The commenting function is still open to anyone. It should be mentioned that commentary by anonymous (non logged-in) visitors is being moderated.
