Starting this thread due to the following comment by @pb_legend:

@neil-foster & @techsupport, sometimes when I return to browsing on the site, primarily on PC, the site will open as if I'm not logged in. However, if I click any of the subheadings in the upper corner of the page (including groups, login, etc), the site takes me to the next page, but then suddenly I'm logged in.

This is a known "ghost" problem that to my understanding has been hanging around for a long time and is probably related to our frontend caching. I have previously tried to fix this in a variety of ways, apparently to no avail.

I'm opening this topic to gather more information.

• Do you recognize this problem? Experienced it yourself?
• How often does it occur? Every visit? Just from time to time? How often/seldom?

Although not that often, likely twice a week or so.
