Wow, what a time consuming masking job, my friend @michaelt!
The end result is utterly rewarding, though!

This is really some serious masking Michael @michaelt
As mentioned by Spiros @fiveten, the result is stunning.

The wings are painted now, although they are darker than I intended.
Looking at photos, however, it seems that some aircraft were darker than often portrayed.
The under-surfaces are painted light blue (RLM 65, actually) and the tailplane has been attached.

    This looks incredible !

Several years ago I built the ancient Revell 1/28 scale kit and back dated it to be one of the prototype F-100 series Fokker machines. This is how I went about achieving the Fokker streaking that was so evident on these Dr-1 types (and the early Fokker D-VII aircraft as well).

How-to article on applying WW1 "Fokker" Streaky Camouflage, or “Fokker Streaking” 101
I know it is a little too late for your model, but hopefully it might be helpful to someone.

    A bit more painting today.
I tried re-masking and painting some of the axial wing to see if I could lighten the wings up a bit, but it made negligible difference, so I didn't try it on the wings.
The tail is painted yellow as you can see. I was aiming for a thin paint look and the pattern underneath is more visible than the photos suggest.
The wings, rudder and engine/cowling are not attached yet - I want to weather the wings a bit before I do that.

    G'day Louis (@lgardner),

    Thanks for the compliment.

I did trial your method more or less (using acrylics and without the clear barrier) on the spare tailplane, but decided that the contours and rivets, etc on the wing would make it a little difficult to keep the lines straight.

If I had a bit more time up my sleave I might have tried to find a suitable non acrylic barrier layer (covid lockdowns have not helped).

Thanks again for your interest and advice..

    G'day John (@johnb),
    Thanks.
I don't think I've tried to paint a finish like this before.
Usually with yellow I'm spraying multiple coats to get a consistent, opaque colour.
For this one I was trying to get a translucent look without it being blotchy due to overlap.
This took a couple of goes to get an acceptable look.

Lovely work, Michael. I like the green colour scheme and the 'streaked' application looks great; the contrast with the darker shade of red cowling is very eyecatching. Good work... :-).

    Regards,

    Paul

So, I've had a final go at lightening the wing camouflage...
I re-masked and sprayed a light cover of the lighter colour.
Then I over-sprayed this with a light cover of the green.
    I think that will do.
