The Quinta Studio decals are amazing to work with. They're very thin vinyl so after releasing from the decal paper, they are quite durable and can be moved and adjusted easily. The directions recommend using some form of glue to adhere them rather than relying on the decal adhesive. They also recommend not using any form of decal set or solvent. I used Testors canopy glue and it seems to be working well.

There is definitely a bit of touchup to do with XF-71 Cockpit Green but the cockpit looks fantastic!

A fine looking cockpit, Brian @brithebuilder
Quinta decals are indeed a pleasure to work with and they do add a lot to the interior.

Interior looks great, Brian (@brithebuilder). I really like the Quinta interiors, but they seem to have gotten really expensive lately. I use a white glue from Ammo by Mig called Ultra Glue, which is designed for photoetch, but works great with the Quinta stuff. Looking forward to the rest of the build.

@fiveten, @johnb, @gblair, @coondog - I was able to find the Quinta decals for $10 each from BNA Model World which doesn't seem too bad to me. Definitely saves a lot of time from painting the tiny details and adds a lot of depth.

As I have gotten the two halves of the plane together:

I'm wondering what you all typically do to add the rivet holes where it's been sanded. I have a fine saw blade to scribe the panel lines and I'm using a Push Pin for the rivets but getting the spacing and placement right is definitely a challenge... It seems like there has to be a better way.

Hi Brian (@brithebuilder): Push pins are a difficult way to go. After modeling all of these years, I finally got a riveter last year from UMM-USA.com. They have tons of different riveters, as well as many tools that you didn't know you needed till you saw them.

@gblair - Hey George, I figured the push pin wasn't the easy way. 😉
I have seen a few videos from Plasmo on YouTube where he used a riveter called Rosie the Riveter and that makes sense for straight lines, but what about the circle just fore of the cockpit? Does a riveter still work in that situation? If I'm going to continue to build plane models, I'll definitely have to pick one up...

Hi Brian (@brithebuilder): You can get Rosie the Riveter at UMM, as well as a lot of others. I have only used my riveter on straight, or nearly straight lines. I suspect circular panels can be done, but I would bet you need are really steady hand. I have seen Eduard resin rivet sets made using the same process as the Quinta instrument panels, but they are created for specific planes. Archer was a company that made patterned rivets, but they are out of business now. You can still find them online in a few places. Both of them go on like decals.

@gblair - Thanks George, I was just looking at the UMM site and almost every size of Rosie is sold out. Revell has one with 4 interchangeable wheels for $20 that I just picked up on Amazon. I've seen a few videos where the guy used scribing tape as a guide. Seems like it's essentially really thick masking tape. It's still a challenge to deal with a circle though. The decal style rivet sets would be cool but doing an entire aircraft seems like a level of detail I'm not sure about.
