    Here's another photo I have of one of Vraciu's Hellcats. I'm not sure if this is the same plane or not. It could be, but if it is, this picture was taken later on, after more victories were added to the side of the fuselage.


    I don't see the name "Gadget" on the side of the fuselage anymore either. It simply could have been painted over, or this could be a different Hellcat altogether.

    Personally I'm thinking this is a different plane, when he flew with VF-16 on the Lexington. This one has Squadron markings from VF-16, the "Fighting Airedale's", where in the first Hellcat I posted, he flew with the "Felix the Cat" Squadron. You can see the different unit insignia ahead of the kill markings.

    If so, this actually could be a Hellcat with the number 32 on the fuselage sides. I thought you might enjoy this picture too.

    Thanks again Louis, know this pic already too. As far as I know/have seen, this is another aircraft. As you mentioned most probably "32".
