    Progress Update

After a coat of Testor's Dullcoat, it's time to start finishing this up with weathering and details. All masks have been removed and the cockpit canopies installed. Getting closer to the finish line.

    Looking really good, Eric @eb801
I was wondering how you apply the final clear coat with the masks already removed. Doesn't that give a foggy result when spraying coat over transparant parts. Personally I always leave the masks on till the end.

John @johnb: I sprayed the flat clear coat first and removed the masks afterwards. I no longer favor dipping canopies in Future or spraying clear coats over them because it makes for too much paint build up and makes it hard to get clean lines when removing the masks. Only the windscreen has the flat clear coat. In this case, I sprayed the canopy frames with interior green first and then followed up with the non spectacular blue on top of that using flat paint all the way. I actually enjoy masking canopies because I don't get clean results when I try to paint the frames by hand. I also use a product called "Goo Gone" to remove any residue left by the masking tape. It doesn't hurt the paint.

@eb801, thanks for sharing. Masking canopies is also my preference, hand painting the frames is beyond my skills. Going to have a look into this "Goo Gone".

Wow, Eric (@eb801), I really like the paint and markings on your Corsair. The national markings with the red outline really stand out. I have never tried Goo Gone, mainly because I hate the way it smells. I use alcohol on a cotton bud which will usually do the trick.

Your Corsair is really looking fantastic ! I especially like how the red surrounds show up against the Blue Gray background... and now I can see myself building a Corsair with similar markings in the future...

I don't have a steady enough hand to paint canopies by hand. I never have either, it's just something I find very difficult to do, sort of like pin striping a car. I use a simple wooden tooth pick to remove paint from clear parts that sometimes shows up after the masking is removed.

A cotton bud like George mentioned also works for me.

By the looks of things, this one should be in the headlines section soon. You are rocking it ! Keep it going.

    Almost Ready to Stand up!

I've been working on the bottom of the plane. Tailwheel now installed and today I will adding the main gear and flaps.
    Here's a couple of photos:

Tailwheel and flap installed. Don't forget to cut off the early style extended wheel covers that stick out before installing.

Here's a photo of the bottom of the plane with exhaust stains and ID lights added.

H100 will be standing on its own legs next time I post.
