First off, Happy Easter to you all. Secondly, I want to thank you for your continued support with my various projects and builds.
I sincerely appreciate this, and have been enjoying this Phony War group build a lot. You guys are the reason why it is going so well for all of us.
I have finally made some progress on this six wheel armored radio car. Here are some photos to show what has been done so far.
These are the plastic parts that are included in the kit.
There is no interior in the lower hull portion, so I decided to glue all of the doors and hatches closed shut.
The undercarriage and drivetrain are decently rendered. Not all of the parts have been installed yet.
The wheels were assembled, and I sanded the seam off the middle of the tires. The tires were sprayed with Testors enamel Flat Rubber color from the little square bottles.
I used my circle cutter and made some masks using masking tape. The I sprayed the wheel portion with Anthracitegrau color from my dwindling Model Master enamel paints.
This is what the outside portion of the wheels looked like once I removed the masking tape. There are still a few parts that get glued on the wheel, so they are not yet finished, and will require a little more gray paint on the centers.
This is what the inside of the wheel set looks like.
Since I had some Gray paint left in the spray cup, I decided to paint the underside of the armored car. This hid the glue marks. At each glue joint, the plastic became a little bit lighter in color, and this was very visible. Granted I will be adding some dirt, dust and road grime later... I just didn't want any problems to show up that could have been prevented now.
Finally, this is a picture showing how the wheels and tires look now. I gave them a little dusting, and have them temporarily in place to take the picture.
This is going together very quickly, and I am have a blast with it so far.
Now having said this, I will go find some wood to knock on... 😉 just in case things start going wrong.
As always, comments are encouraged.
Thanks for stopping by and have a good night.
Happy Easter to everyone.
