That’s right. This is a six wheeled German armored radio car.

I have contacted Felix and he has given me his approval to add this kit to the ever growing group.

For this I am sincerely grateful. Thank you my friend.

I have recently picked up the kit, and lately I’ve been on an armored kit binge. So watch this space because it’s going to be interesting and hopefully a lot of fun too.

I’m going to build it as a German unit vehicle that was involved with the “Sitzkrieg” part of the war.

These vehicles were phased out of front line service fairly quickly. What was left was used for anti Partisan patrols later on in the war.

    As always comments are encouraged.

First off, Happy Easter to you all. Secondly, I want to thank you for your continued support with my various projects and builds.

I sincerely appreciate this, and have been enjoying this Phony War group build a lot. You guys are the reason why it is going so well for all of us.

I have finally made some progress on this six wheel armored radio car. Here are some photos to show what has been done so far.

These are the plastic parts that are included in the kit.

There is no interior in the lower hull portion, so I decided to glue all of the doors and hatches closed shut.

The undercarriage and drivetrain are decently rendered. Not all of the parts have been installed yet.

The wheels were assembled, and I sanded the seam off the middle of the tires. The tires were sprayed with Testors enamel Flat Rubber color from the little square bottles.

I used my circle cutter and made some masks using masking tape. The I sprayed the wheel portion with Anthracitegrau color from my dwindling Model Master enamel paints.

This is what the outside portion of the wheels looked like once I removed the masking tape. There are still a few parts that get glued on the wheel, so they are not yet finished, and will require a little more gray paint on the centers.

This is what the inside of the wheel set looks like.

Since I had some Gray paint left in the spray cup, I decided to paint the underside of the armored car. This hid the glue marks. At each glue joint, the plastic became a little bit lighter in color, and this was very visible. Granted I will be adding some dirt, dust and road grime later... I just didn't want any problems to show up that could have been prevented now.

Finally, this is a picture showing how the wheels and tires look now. I gave them a little dusting, and have them temporarily in place to take the picture.

This is going together very quickly, and I am have a blast with it so far.

Now having said this, I will go find some wood to knock on... 😉 just in case things start going wrong.

    As always, comments are encouraged.

Thanks for stopping by and have a good night.

    Happy Easter to everyone.

Moving right along, Louis (@lgardner). I am looking forward to this one. I have always been more partial to armored cars than tanks, and this one is one of the cooler ones.

Thank you for the kind comments. I sincerely appreciate them. The more work I do on this project the more I want to do. You don’t often see these six wheel armored cars built up and there’s not too many pictures of them available on line either.

I got a lot of work done on the car today. Here’s some pictures showing the progress.

The wheels were installed as were the exhaust. I also assembled the front axle and mounted it too. These pictures show the top side.

These pictures show the details of the bottom. If you look closely you can see the exhaust system. I will come back and add the rust colors and some dirt / dust / grime / and possibly some mud later on.

The fenders were glued on next. Now it’s really starting to look like the car I was hoping for. Seeing this is enticing me to make the 8 Rad Puma I have in the stash. I have a very nice and highly detailed Dragon / DML 1/35 scale kit that has been calling me for a while. I think it's called the Sd. Kfz 234 when it has 8 wheels. The fenders look very similar too, but one set is extended to cover two sets of wheels where this armored car has a single set installed on the front steering axle.

But I will get some kits finished before I drag it out.

This shows how the underneath looks after the fenders were installed.

The turret shell has been glued together and has been set aside to dry overnight.

Thanks for stopping by and as always comments are encouraged.

    Take care everyone.

Hi Louis (@lgardner): I always thought this was one of the cooler looking armored cars, and your model is catching the coolness.

They say great minds think alike ! 😉

I knew that once I saw a model of this armored car, I just had to get it. When it arrived, it immediately went to the top of the build pile... and here we are. I really like this car.

I think it looks really cool, and now this has been taunting me to build my 1/35 Dragon / DML 8 wheeled Puma... but I will wait until I get a few more kits cleared from the work bench, and posted in the headlines section. The 8 wheel Puma is a similar armored car, but mine has a turret with a 75 MM main gun on it and is a little bit bigger in size, probably because of the 8 wheels versus six.

    Thanks again my friend.

Some really nice progress, Louis @lgardner
Out of curiousity, are those wheels dry fitted so that you can take them off easily for painting the bodywork. If not, how will you get the paint behind the wheels.

    Well done, Louis!
Agree with the statements that this is a cool looking ride. Put a clear glass dome over the turret hole and you'd have a sci-fi moon buggy or a Munster's dune buggy...😎

This kit has received more than its fair share of bad-mouthing, but it certainly looks good in your hands, Louis! Your use of those old but good paints is also admirable. Here's hoping the future brings smooth modeling to your attractive venture.
