started this Friday, it’s mostly chrome which means tons O fingerprints : )

Made some good progress the last few days and I made a discovery. Some of the parts that are Crome needed to be painted. A couple years back I bought Tamiya’s Metal Primer for all the metal Top Studio things i used, I tried but realized it was all good without it.

So I thought chrome is metal right? And I didn’t feel like soaking all these parts in anything to strip and repaint them. I tested it on some small parts, let it dry then sprayed it with black. It worked GREAT. However on the larger pieces it went on pretty thick so I went easy on the next pieces. The color locks on perfectly. I’m sure someone will say this is an old trick but I’m thrilled I figured it out.

    Here some progress shots…

    Here are the latest updates

I haven’t attached any of the exterior chrome I’ll wait until it’s ready to roll to avoid scratching and fingerprints.

The subassemblies are done. I did the tank badges, they were chrome but I painted them with clear yellow and then filled the black in the Panel Line detailer, about 5 coats…not perfect but it will do.

The tank is chrome so I used thin cotton gloves to handle it, still waiting for the badges to dry completely before I attach them I like it without the handle bars, seat and tank in place it’s gunna look funky with those on : )

    Almost ready to roll
