    Dear All,

Many many thanks to George Blair for putting this group together!

I had the Kinetic kit and a little aftermarket to go with it.

I have recently moved house, and gradually finding kits and equipment and reorganising myself!

Telford is looming in a couple of weeks and I will be looking out for F-84's while I am there.

I will make a start shortly but substantial progress will have come after Telford!

I was reminded of a great book by Richard Bach, 'Stranger to the Ground' (before he wrote Jonathan Livington Seagull!).

It tells the story of a night mission he flew in a F-84F at night from Wethersfield in England to Chaumont in France. For me a great insight into what flying a fighter jet is about.

I am thinking of doing a scheme for the 141st Tactical Fighter Squadron, which is the unit that Bach was flying for at the time.

Thanks for all the inspirational posts we have seen on the group!

    Best to all

Welcome to the group, David (@davem). I am really excited to watch you sprinkle your building magic on this model. I became interested in the F-84 and flying in general after I read Stranger to the Ground in the 60s, so it is very nostalgic that you have a photo of the book. Looking forward to your build.

I just finished this kit, David (@davem). I think you will really like it and I look forward to see you bring this one together. It was a pleasant build, but the rough texture has to be dealt with it you plan a NMF.

    Dear All,
    A little progress!
I had no idea balls of steel would be required for this build, however ebay to the rescue!

    Very good progress, David @davem
Additional nose weight is definitely required. Due to the lack of steel balls at home, I used fishing lead and even nuts instead.

Seems like a steel ball would be included in a kit if one is needed. :-/ Your off to a good start on this F-84 David @davem !
