    Scratch build ,
These type of boats where use against the Russians in the Black sea and as school boats on the baltic coast.
Mine will be U20 ….A Black sea boat.
Deck is cnc machined from 1mm thick styrene sheet.
The body is made from Blue insulation foam board and sanded in to shape and covered with 0,5mm polystyrene sheet .

Saddle tanks / ballast tanks are done.
Wasn’t really sure how this would work and look , it was difficult to make ( bending plastic sheet, putty and and a bit of sanding.)
But turned out real good ..which was nice.

I love it all but the hatch work and precision of the grating is extraordinary. How did you go about making them?

  • Maarten said 5 months, 4 weeks ago:

    Chaz,
    Thanks !
I bought the grating on aliexpress,
They are laser cut ……cant get any better than that and it saves a lot of work.
The actual hatch is 3D printed by shapeways.
    Regards,
    Maarten
