Thanks my friend @johnb anc @gblair!

Usually Hasegawa decals from more or less that era worked like my ones, meaning:

    • They take ages to detach from their backing paper (5 minutes or so). I think warm water helps. I dip them in the water for a 1-2 minutes, then take them out and patiently wait...

    • Once off the backing paper, they adhere well onto the model.

    • If containing "white" sections, Hasegawa, till recently, represented them as "ivory", which annoyed most modelers, no whites in my case, though 🙂 .

    • Typically theey endure well with time, especially if they are sealed together with the clear parts, as is (was?) the Hasegawa usual case.

John, the engine looks very convincing indeed!

    Looking forward to your progress!

@gblair, @lis, thanks for these kinds words.

@fiveten, thanks for sharing this approach. Decalling will be after I have applied this 'difficult' striped scheme. This is what holds me back at the moment, more less afraid to get that paintwork started.

You guys are getting really nice results, @fiveten and @johnb.

I just saw 3D computer renderings for the new Eduard Zero. It's going to do to the Hasegawa Zero what their P-51D did to Tamiya's old eagle. Ditto their coming F4F, which won't have an FM-2 cockpit as the Tamiya F4F-4 does. And will be coming in F4F-3, F4F-4, FM-1 and FM-2 varieties.

No put-down of the excellent modeling talent on display here, but I have to say these new kits from Eduard are finally delivering the model kits I wanted when I was comparing Aurora kits to photos of the real thing.

Yep, regarding the Eduard and Hasegawa Zeros, looks like "the enemy of good is better".
Looking forward to their F4F, as well.

    Typhoon vs Zero
This morning I swapped from the Typhoon to the Zero to work on the landing gear.
I will try to add brake lines like shown by Spiros @fiveten as well.
What I noticed is how small those tyres of the Zero are compared to the Typhoon.
Also the propellor is absolutely not comparable.
