Thank you gentlemen for your kind comments. It has been a very long day today. So once again I am very pressed for time.

Last night I managed to get some work done on the WNW Pfalz D-3. I recently ordered some Quinta Studio stuff for some of my various Great War projects and also for some of the upcoming ones.

This is my first time using this kind of stuff.

These are two sets of semi transparent decals for the Axial style wooden propeller. I have one that is going to be used for the Voss Albatros.

This is a set for the Heine propeller. This is what I will use for my WNW Pfalz.

I sprayed the prop with white primer. You can change the color of the wood by using a different color base paint.
Next I applied the decals on the front side of the prop.

The rear side is not yet covered. Hopefully this will be done soon. I’m really liking how this looks.

I used a small piece of walnut shade woodgrain decal for the floor of the WNW Pfalz. The cockpit rigging is next.

I started covering the top wing using 5 color lozenge decals. These are also WNW variety.

This also happens to be my first time using decals for lozenge fabric.

This is what I got done. The Pfalz had lozenge fabric applied chord wise starting from the center. I’m replicating this using the decals.

This is a good closeup to show how nice the decals are snuggling down to the surface. I’m also doing another first.

I picked up some Mr Mark Setter and Softer. I’m using it for my very first time.

I’m happy to report that it is working very nicely.

You can also see how the WNW kit has molded in rib stitching. They will be covered with some WNW rib tape once I get the whole wing covered.

I’m having a blast working on this project.

    As always comments are encouraged.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend.

    Amazing work done, Louis @lgardner
Quinta produces so many nice add-ons, it will add a lot to your build.
Never used those lozenge decals before, are they similar to the standard decals you have to apply with water or is it a different approach.

The prop came out looking really nice, Louis (@lgardner). It is impossible to tell that it is a decal. Fabric decal also looks like it went down well. I have used the Mr Mark products for decals and have found them similar in strength to MicroSol/Set. I have never seen the Quinta decals for props.

Those prop decals look awesome, Louis. The lozenge looks great, especially considering it’s your first go around with it. I remember using a hair dryer on WNW lozenge to get it to conform tightly on my Pfalz. I also used it on an LVG C.VI that never got finished. I need to pull that one out and complete it.

Thank you my friend. I am really liking this Quinta stuff. I am very happy I decided to give it a try.

Thank you for the compliments. This is a first for me using Quinta stuff... and now I wish I had done it earlier ! Your comments are spot on about them.

Hello John ! Yes these are regular decals for the lozenge fabric, and I have been using warm water to loosen them from the paper. Then I use the setting solution to hold them down and the softening agent to make them conform to the details in the plastic. These were originally printed and sold by Wingnut Wings. You can still find them available through several hobby stores and various online auction places. I have a feeling that once they are gone, they will be gone for a long time.

    Thanks for the compliments.

Hello again George. Thank you for the compliment on the prop. Last night I managed to finish it up. I am very happy with how it turned out. I could never have painted it and made it look this nice, because of the different colored laminations. If it was a solid carved prop, I might have been able to do this and make it look convincing enough. But not so with the two different wood species used for the laminations.

This is my first time using the Mr Mark products. I have only used solvaset prior to this. I am very happy with how these prop decals turned out. I will be doing the prop for the Voss Albatros soon, so please stay tuned for that one too. Thanks again.

Thank you ! I have been very lucky with the decals so far... now having said this, I will likely mess up on the very last piece of lozenge decal !

I will keep that trick with the hair drier handy, just in case. Thank you.

Now you are almost wrapping up your Fokker D-VII, I say go for it with the LVG. It's not even necessary to finish up the Fokker first... that is purely up to you to decide if you want to add it here or not.

You Siemens looks great in the headlines section. I made sure to leave some nice comments for you.

I believe you live not too far away from me. If so, please stay safe with this hurricane that's coming near.

    Here is tonight's installment.

I realized that I would have to spray the radiator. I wanted to have it done before I continued with the rest of the lozenge decals. It would have been horrible to mask the lozenge fabric in order to spray the radiator with aluminum colored paint... Chances are it would have lifted the decals, and made me a bit angry in the process.

So I decided to mask them off first... Play it safe.

I have also finished up the prop for the WNW Pfalz D-III. I let it dry for several days before I added the Quinta decals on the back of the prop.

Then I carefully touched up the edges after everything was tidied up and made to look smooth as silk.

The Roden engine assembly line has been started too. Here are all of the Mercedes D-III engines that are being built for the remaining German kits I have in the stash.

One of these will be used for the Werner Voss Pfalz D-III.

One more will be seen in a few minutes... 😉

We have a Hurricane that is currently projected to make landfall west of us. We should be OK, but we might lose power for a little while. I will try to comment if I can.

    As always, comments are encouraged.
Take care and have a good night.

Thank you all for the kind words. I am very pleased with how the prop has turned out. I have also finished up with the lozenge decals on the upper wing... all except for the rib tapes, and this has been started.

This shows the lozenge decals have been completed on the top side of the upper wing...

as have the lower lozenges been done.

I have started adding the rib tapes. According to the Wingnut Wings gang, this particular aircraft had used the 5 color lozenge fabric for the rib tapes.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a good night.
