John, the painting looks to be coming along quite nicely. Always rather hard to paint a dark color so that pre-shading shows through. You seem to have done that well. This will look excellent when completed, I can tell already.

@clipper, thank you, Carl. The dark green came out better than I expected, definitely a lot of luck is involved.

Finished the masking of the Buffalo.

Applied the "jong blad" color, "young leaf". Used Vallejo 71.014 'Gunship green' for that. The patafix used for the tail section was very difficult to remove while the patafix on the wings and fuselage come off very easily. Reason for that must have been that I applied the tail section masks two days ago. So next time, better to applying and remove patafix the same day.

The "jong blad" did not show the pre-shading anymore, therefore I used the dark green camouflage color to create some shading on the lighter green color.

Some of the final parts got painted today. The finish line is getting closer.

Although the fuselage band is provided as decal, I decided to paint it. To my opinion this looks more natural.

Great steps and a wise decision to paint the white fuselage band, my friend @johnb!

Looks great, John (@johnb). The shading on the lighter green really adds to the effect, and your white band also came out great. Painting white over the dark camo must have been fun.

@gblair, thanks a lot, George. It would have been much earier if I had painted the white first indeed, but why make it yourself easy if you can do it the difficult way.

Got the wheels and the propellor on.
Last activity before holiday, will be visiting London for nearly a week, let's hope there is time left to spent a visit at the RAF museum.

Started with the decals. First the orange triangles at the lower side of the wings. Decals worked perfectly. No decals for the upperside of the wings. The nose art decals required a white base decal at first. This worked very well but I'm not sure what the idea of Tamiya is behind this white base.

    Looking super, my friend @johnb!
Presumably Tamiya opted to minimize the chances of camo showing through the yellow part of the decal...

@fiveten, thanks a lot, Spiros. That might be a plausible explanation.
