Hello everybody, I am back !
I already finished all models for my friend's collection and I am building this Lightning again.
Meanwhile I drew new wheels and printed them in 3D resin printer - they are so nice now!
However, as a first step I went back to cockpit and finished the canopy plus main bays covers.
This allows me to start painting job.
Everything was scratched as the original backwall was unusable. I also made new hings and cut slits in the fuselage. Now it looks much more accurate.

Looks great, Martin (@naviatik). Your extra detailing is really outstanding. You should have a clinic in how to detail a cockpit.

Here just one bad pic, how new wheen looks like and the box one.
Just short note - new version is wheel in one-piece, because assembly it was not good idea.

    Umasked!

    Little legend to colors used:

Fuselage main color - Polished Aluminium (Alclad)

Wings inner area - White Aluminium (MRP) + spots with Polished Aluminium

Flaps and ailerons - White Aluminium

Leadings - of course Red (Mr. Color) + Polished Aluminium

Tail and back - Red with modulation (Red Brown, Yellow, White)

Intake ring and exhaust ring - Stainless Steel (Alclad)

Covers - mix of Pale burnt metal + Duraluminum (both Alclad)

    Surface aging - White Aluminium

Wheel bays and legs - Semi matt Aluminium

I must say that White Aluminium and Polished Aluminium work great together, creating realistic metalic surface.

Unfortunately, I must fix 2 defects where the tape peeled off the color - intake ring and left wing panel. It could go worse, so this is fine.

    Really nice paintwork, Martin @naviatik
Those various panel shadings do make it look very realistic.

Martin, that NMF work is simply fantastic (really, all the paint work is), and thanks for sharing some insight into the variations you used.

@naviatik - Looks like you have "gotten it."

The one thing to worry about at this point is the kit decals. They are very thin and will "fold up like a cheap suit" at the slightest opportunity. I highly recommend coating the sheet with some liquid decal film - it won't prevent them melting into the surface as they should, but will keep you from losing the decals. (I'm speaking from experience gained the hard way here).
