Lots of good work going on here, Simon, keep it up, I'm sure you (and your son) will be more than pleased with the result.

Very nice choice of car here Simon. Definitely my sort of thing!
Ferrari claim that the look of this machine is born purely from science. Aerodynamics etc...
All I know is that it one good looking Ferrari ! Science must be pretty sexy!
I'll be posting my first car build in a couple of weeks. I'm building an E-type Jag for my mates sons Xmas present. It won't be my last car neither!
Looking forward to seeing the 458, I'll keep a close eye on its progress. Cheers

Getting along here Simon. Couple of small suggestions: if you haven't used Alclad chrome before make sure your base coat is a glossy black (I seal mine with Future) & try to spray the chrome at a shallow angle. The more Alclad you use the less it will look like chrome. Make sure you don't have an early bottle of Alclad black, it never cured. They should be off gone by now.

Also on your aluminum block & components you might try a wash of thinned down Tamiya smoke or something similar to make all those cast ribs pop out.

Please don't take this as criticism just suggestions.

You have a lot of progress Simon, looking good. My bench is collecting dust.
Vice and clean work and good to have an advice about Alclad, never used it.

Thanks for the heads up with the Alcad, it is the first time I have used them so a learning experience.
Once the block is finished I will give a light wash of Tamiya Smoke before fitting the exhaust pipes.
The chassis has had another coat and is now drying before further painting .
And yes Al I have got the new batch of gloss black base.

Well, things have moved on a little bit, not much but a little.
The engine details have been brush painted in, and now ready for assembly.
Also the floor or chassis has been given its base coat and now masked up for some contrasting panels.
Next, hopefully he says, is the priming and painting of the wheel arches and upper wish bone supports etc.
    Then, onward into the cabin!.

    A quick update.
After a week to remember, I finally got some more done, but not much.
Sprayed the chassis a mix of Gunmetal X10 and Semi Gloss Black X18 plus the wheel arches and the suspension supports.
Still need to spray Gloss Black Base on the wishbones before giving them a coat or three of Alcad Polished Aluminium.
Also have nearly got the engine done, just some glue and a light wash to bring out any detail.
    Will post more later.

    TTFN.

    Well not much done recently.
    Life and Xmas etc.
But did get some bits done.
The engine together, exhaust to add after wash.

The chassis was sprayed and masked.

The carbon was sprayed to some more parts.

    As well as the seats.

Lots of masking up to do before the next spraying next week (the weather looks c**p and family commitments)
I will leave you with this thought.
"what were Moses baskets called before Moses came along?"

I believe they were referred to as Pre-Moses baskets...

    Cheers all.

Not a lot to be done for now.
Masking up one of the seats took a nearly an hour.
With more that that to do, methinks it could be the middle of next week until I get any spraying done.

    Then more masking.

...sounds familar to me, hours of masking, ten minutes spraying. But its good to do something every day just not to loose the thread.
You may ask yourself how i know...
