Curtiss P-40 Warhawk (Kittyhawk)

Hasegawa 1/48 scale P-40N

I decided to write this one a little more in-depth than my previous posts. Not a full-blown review by any means, but just a little more “color.” I hope this is an improvement over my previous few posts! Here is Hasegawa’s 1/48 [...]

P-40E Aleutian Tiger

I built this a while ago but thought it would be good for my first iModeler post. This aircraft is from the 343rd FG, 11th FS in the Aleutians 1942. I thought this was different in that there were no blue surrounds on the national [...]

Building my collection of General Scott's aircraft

I am well into building a collection of General Robert Scott's aircraft. He is probably the only aviation icon I have met in person, so this has been my motivation to start this project. All will be in 48th scale.

P40 Kittyhawk MkIII

This is the Italeri kit done a while back, i think this was the first kit i used my new Rosie the riveter tool on, the rest is pretty much out of the box not really any vices to report i had to freshen up some of the panel lines on the [...]

Airfix Hawk 81-A-2 in 1/72nd.

Built straight OOB. Good value for money, with good fit overall. There is a mistake in the decal sheet: the woman figure should be facing towards the cockpit, i.e. backwards on the starboard side. I only noticed this in the reference [...]

Kittyhawk Mk.III, 1/32 Hasegawa kit by Tony Prince.

Finished yesterday; this is Hasegawa's 1/32 scale P-40M kit, built as a Kittyhawk Mk. III serving with 112 Sqn. RAF in Italy. Essentially OOB except for seat belts, aerial wire & hydraulic lines. Thanks to Tom Cleaver for a heads up on [...]

P-40N flown by Lt. Jack A. Fenimaore, 7th FS, 49th FG

I have no further information on Lt. Fenimore but he must have been a good guy because of the name and painting he put on his aircraft. Again, the kit is from Mauve and I found it to be very good. OOB it is good but if one wanted to go hog [...]

P-40N flown by Lt. Joel B. Paris III, 7th FS, 49th FG

Lt Paris was born in Atlanta, GA in 1922. He entered the USAAF in March of 1942 He completed flight training and was commissioned in February of 1943. He was sent to the SWPA and was assigned to the 7th FS, of the 49th FG. He is credited [...]

Legato 1/72 Curtiss P-40E Warhawk, Tamiya 1/72 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Vb Trop, Revell 1/72 Hawker Hurricane Mk.IIc.

Just a few desert camo RAF aircraft. All oob builds, the Legato P-40 kit was hard work but turned out ok and has a good shape, the Tamiya kit as usual was a dream and the keenly priced Revell kit fitted together really well, happy enough [...]

Coulda been a contender-Trumpeter’s so close 1/32 P-40B….

So close...it almost looks like a P-40B. That beautiful, pointed-nosed Curtiss fighter, the best looking of the line, and bearer of the "Sharkmouth" to perfection. BUT something is wrong here, looked at from the front low, it's [...]
