Thanks my friend @pikofix! Yep, it is an old/simplistic model, a beloved one! "Hidden" behind the "latest and greatest" superdetailed kits, isn't it really great to build such models nowadays!

    Meanwhile...

    External stores loading!

Wing tanks and mavericks loaded, sidewinders to follow (and, "of course", the ALQ-119 ECM pod!)...

This will be a mean loaded, fearsome Viper!

    Thanks for stopping by!

No signs of the wings anymore, Spiros @fiveten
Already heavy loaded and still the sidewinders to attach.
    Looks indead mean.

Yep, inasmuch as I love the Mirage 2000, I have admit that the term "One plane air force" indeed suits the Viper!
The threat of a Viper, armed with 6 Mavericks AND carrying ECM pod (let alone the de rigeur Sidewinders for self-defense...), is not a threat to be left unattended...

The ECM pod attached, together with the Sidewinders...

ECMs were seen painted a light gray or olive drab. Both colors were seen during the Gulf War. "Of course", I opted for the OD, as to add some interest to the grays...

Front and starboard pitots added. The front pitot was somehow crude, so I replaced it with a piece of stretched sprue ( I was really tempted to form it from a needle piece, but, since it will be a present to small child, better be safe than sorry...
Various touch ups are in progress, next is weathering!

    Thanks for stopping by!

(Kids have an afternoon nap, so 🙂 ) Some weathering was applied, after all this was an intensively used machine:

Lots of progress made today, Spiros @fiveten
The ECM in OD is indeed better than again grey, makes it much more visible like this.
That it is used intensively can be clearly seen with the applied weathering, looks great.

I added the transparencies, redid the pitot, as to blend smoother with the radome, did this and that (!) annnnnd... called this Desert Queen...

    Done!

    Thanks to all who followed!

What an awesome result, Spiros @fiveten
Also the way you presented it is beautiful.
This way the full potential of a maximum armed Falcon is clearly visible.
Well done, looking forward to see it on the headlines.

Well done Viper Spiros, Desert Storm also saw the use of both white and OD painted Mavericks, as the transition to the different colors was going on as the war started. That also involved the air to air weapons were also transitioning to the current glossy Greys. Both Navy/USMC ordnance were as well. Thanks for an excellent F-16

    Thanks my friend @uscusn!
Great info about ordnance painting: such paint variations might add interest to the completed model.
    Now onto the Tornado!
