You've made me want to build an aircraft!

Since joining imodeler I've been inspired by all the aircraft and want to build one myself. It's not my specialist subject, so I'm not surewhat to choose. I'm very limited as to availability here, so the best choice would be 1/48 (1/72 seems too small for my eyes!) by Tamiya, the Swordfish looks great, and had some good reviews when it was released. Any suggestions?

George, although the Swordfish is a great kit it may not be the best choise as your first aircraft model. For one thing it s a bi-plane and if your thinking about rigging it then its a tricky one to start with!

Tamiya make real nice easy to build good quality kits, and i would reccommend one of their single engine 1/48 fighters - the P-51D Mustang is real good, and is trouble free with lots of nice detail. The Spitfires are also highly reccommended.

    George,

I'm with Gregor. Tamiya 1/48 aircraft kits are top of the line and fit perfectly together. I would suggest their P-51B Mustang. Easy to build with a simple paint scheme of O.D. Green over Neutral Grey. Just my two cents.

    Cheers

Thanks for your help and suggestions, guys. In fact I've decided to try a Meteor, just waiting for the postman to call. By the way, am I dreaming, or did a company called Frog produce some kits for early British jets, like the Javelin and the V bombers (it would have been a long time ago!)

    Thanks again
    George

Good choise George, if its the 1/48 Tamiya Meteor its a good kit - i built the Mk 6 a while ago and it presented no problems. Frog did indeed do a lot of post wat jets in their range in the 1960's/70's, which included the Javelin, speaking of which - Airfix are to release an all new tooliing of this jet in 1/48 in the near future. Good luck with your Meteor!
