    About twenty years ago I found on the workshop bench a broken 9/16" drill bit. It occurred to me that since it is High Speed Steel (HSS), and cuts into steel, it ought to be good as a metal scriber. So I fashioned the broken end on a grinding wheel _ being careful not to over heat it.

    I have used this scribe ever since, and never yet had the need to resharpen it.
