@gblair - The image you found looks like a great color scheme for your Conquistador George. Seems very plausible to me.

I think I have finally settled on the colors for my Conquistador. Under-painting appears to be a technique that isn't used much anymore. I got the idea from a book on figure painting by Shep Paine that was decades old. The newer figure painters all seem to paint the oils directly on the primer. It would seem like a good idea to limit the number of layers of paint you have on the figure so that you don't obscure detail, so I may strip the acrylic under-painting one more time and start with just primer.

Thanks, Spiros (@fiveten). I stripped all of the acrylic paint off this afternoon. After I reprime the figure, it will be prime time for oil paints.
