Original 1988 issue kit with Aeromaster decals. I'm going to build this concurrently with a couple of other projects, will be done by August. I'm looking forward to seeing others!

John, that the one with the real tall nosegear strut? And the Omega tail markings?

Oh, yeah! Look at the box art! Koike, I'm thinking? I'm a fan! If I had money, I'd be his patron.

Just a pretty scheme. Was that the time frame for "Sailor"?

Although I'm not taking part, I was wondering if anyone has considered the 1/48 Academy kit that was released a couple of years ago, which had some good reviews at the time.

I,m considering doing a couple of Academy kits, both B and J variants for this build, as I have both languishing in the stash. That is if I can,t lay my mitts on a Tamiya 1/32 Phantom in the next week or two...not bothered which variant, its Tamiya, nuff said.

Yep Academy for me. I built one already VF 84 Vietnam USS Independence. Same scheme as the Eduard release of the kit, but I did it the hard way 🙂 This one will be
VF-111 USS Coral Sea 1972, but not the mig killer, I will choose a different bird from the squadron during that cruise.

There's a 'J' on EBay (UK) for £72 which is listed as 31% discount. It's the version I built last year and posted as a Headline article if you want to have a closer look. Looks like a bargain!

John, is there a close color match rattle can for the FG.1 scheme?

More FG.1 progress. I also did some dry fitting of the intakes today. They sure are a lot bigger then US F-4s. Gotta feed those RR Speys!
