I'm not alone when I say the German APC's form The Second World War were some of the coolest looking vehicles involved in that conflict. Back when I was kid in the 1970's Tamiya released their venerable "Hanomag" kit. The box art alone was enough to fuel my anticipation of building one to a fever pitch. And you got exciting figures to go with it. I built several of them as a kid, but that was back when you didn't just build them, you played with them as well. Plastic models and pre-teen playtime are natural enemies and none of them survived intact into adulthood.
A few years ago I entered an informal model contest with the theme being old Tamiya kits ranging from 1970 to 1980. I chose the "Hanomag", planning to update it as much as possible using bits and bobs from my spare parts box. To that end I was well prepared having built several 251 variants from Dragon Models and AFV Club. This is the result.
