    Weapons are painted black, starting on the metallics. The downside to painting an army is the repetition. There's so much of the same thing. I definitely prefer to paint the hero models.

    I can imagine the repetation is not that nice, but the result definitely is great, Brian @brithebuilder
    Looking forward to the metallic parts.

    @johnb - Thanks John! The metallics are a bit slower than other colors. They tend to want to clog the brush far more quickly. I've also found that the studs on the left pauldron are not going to help me go quickly.
    @fiveten - Thanks Spiros!

    More progress on the metallics. The concept of speed painting is definitely being challenged by the studs on the shoulder pauldrons...

    You have a much steadier hand than I do, Brian @brithebuilder. These all look great. Looking forward to the rest of the painting.

    @fiveten, @johnb, @gblair - Thanks gentlemen. I'm hoping to finish the base colors and get some washes on today. Then on to the Hero models.

    I have come to the realization that I am most definitely not 'speed' painting... I suppose it would be batch painting.

    After a week in Arizona during a heat wave, I'm making progress again!
    This is a coating of Citadel's Nuln Oil over almost everything that's not skin or parchment. It's a dark grey wash. The skin has Reikland Fleshshade and the Parchment has Seraphim Sepia. The flames all need to be painted and all the eyes of helmeted marines need to be glowing green... Then blue plasma weapons and on to the big models.
