Started to work on the engine, some very nice PE provided by Eduard to improve it.

Unfortunately I knocked off the vertical stabilizer, to improve the strength I made use of a recently shown idea from another modeler. Drilled a hole of 0.3mm and added a piece of braided electric wire.

And here is how the Le RhĂ´ne 9J engine looks like in the end.

Great looking engine, John (@johnb). It looks like the stabilizer should have had better attachment points to start with. The wire will certainly help.

Nice paintwork on the engine John (@johnb). It definitely has the right look for an engine from that period.

Excellent looking engine and very efficient way to strengthen the rudder, my friend @johnb!

@gblair, thanks a lot, George. I'm quit pleased with the outcome as well.

@clipper, thank you, Carl. Pretty sure those engines did not look clean anymore after a couple of runs.

@fiveten, thanks a lot, Spiros. Should be sufficient to keep that rudder in place for a longer time.

Your engine looks fantastic ! I didn't realize that you had made another installment on your build journal. I would have commented sooner if I did.

    Sorry for the late reply.

Good idea to use wire on the rudder. I will do that on mine too. Thanks for sharing the idea.

No need to apologise, Louis @lgardner
Glad you are following this thread and do like the progress. The wire on the rudder is definitely not my own idea, also used it from others, but it works really well.

    Finally back at the Nieuport.
Added some of the PE, it always looks nice once attached but for some reason I'm struggling to get it done easily.

Opened up the footstand and the openings for the control cables.

Started on detailing the machine as well. Some nice PE is provided to this.

I believe those mysterious openings are the carburetor intakes (at least number 4). Rotary engines were quite crazy designs…
The Camel had the same openings, basically the air entered from the sides of the fuselage, mixed with fuel, and the fuel-air mixture went into the hollow crankshaft, together with the oil.

Yes, the upper one is the carb intake. CORRECTED - the one above the wing seems to be a rigging attachment point, but it looks quite oversized.

@pikofix, thanks for the information, Csaba. Very interesting. That point above the wing is definitely oversized, I will fill it up once the rigging is attached.

Now that your excellent motorcycle is done, you should have some time to work your magic on this kit, John (@johnb). Looking forward to the rest of the build.
