Since I just finished the Tyrrell I decided not to sit idly by and, bearing in mind that I will be away next weekend due to the national anniversary, I grabbed and am slowly preparing the McLaren.

Nothing special, I just separate the individual pieces of each stage of construction so that when the gluing-painting starts, I don't have to look on the frames, nor do I have to prepare them at that time .

So , here are the parts for the engine , the clutch in dry-fitting condition , rear suspension and brakes , more engine parts and finally front suspension and some parts from the cockpit .

No glue , no color . Those will follow next time . As I mention above , my next update will be on Sunday 03/11 .

Untill then , keep on rockin' and be happy .

    Great entry, Michael @faraomike
Not sure if Meng has other McLarens, but I assume this is about the MP4/4.
    Looking forward to it.

Hi to all ! Finally I have something to add here . As you may see , this "beast" goes well , all parts fits toghether nice and tight -sometimes VERY tight- and needs some extra drilling but not something particularly worrying .

All I have untill now is to play around with colours and some decalling .

After all , some wash to bring out details but not too much since, as we know, after each race these cars are washed and checked thoroughly and in many cases are untied and retied from the beginning.

Nothing special to mention for now , I am going back to my bench prepairing something for the next update .

Here we are again ! Time for a small update . Finished with the engine and transmission and so , time to connect them permanently . Not difficult , you just don't need to be afraid and put in a little more effort. Slow and steady ( "use the Force Luke , use the Force" ).

Some extra parts come after like the exhaust ( slightly distressed with soft chalks colours ) , turbos innlets , heat shields (with carbon fiber imitation decal in the inner side and painted with Gunze H23 Shine red on the outside ) and finally the rear suspension .

All the parts secured with small bolts , limiting the use of glue to a minimum and giving extra strength to the final result .

Next stage is the cockpit : matt black for the seat , some silver for the belts and aluminium for the gear selector . The belts comes in pre-cut thin and very realistic self glueing fabric , making the proccess very easy . The fasteners are photo etched . All the side walls of the cockpit bathtub are nude carbon fibre , and here MENG have done a fantastic work with the decals . He gives everything in perfectly cutting , perfectly printed , perfectly alligned and perfectly fitted decals , on a (what else ?) perfect film , very thin to follow the corners and curves but also strong enough so that it can tolerate several movements until it settles into its final position . Well done MENG for your decals ! Continued to the main body around the cockpit we have more perfect decals to deal with . All set and then the cockpit goes into the body . Easy as 1-2-3 once again and this is the end for now . Next chapter is the last parts of the cockpit (instument panel , drivers wheel etc) and front suspension . But this is for the next update .
