Remember when you're doing F4F-4s that almost nobody had "their" airplane. Thach wasn't flying #1 at Midway. "Marion Carl's Wildcat" was - according to Marion Carl in 1992 - a "hangar queen" on Espiritu Santo to which he and a Gunnery Sgt slapped 16 flag stickers so he could sit on "his" airplane and be photographed by the press after his return from Guadalcanal. Or, as Barrett Tillman says Joe Foss once asked him: "All these guys want to know what my airplane was like - which of the 36 Wildcats in my logbook that I flew at Guadalcanal is mine?" (which pretty much puts #23 on that sheet in the "also ran" category). The only fighter pilots in the South Pacific who had "their" airplanes and flew them were VF-17, the only Navy Corsair squadron (and they were really resented by the Marines who flew whatever was available).

These Eduard Wildcats are really great kits. Pay attention during assembly, and you have a great result on which to add the finish. This one is looking good.
