An Australian Model Expo world first display
In what I believe to be a world first (OK, I am making that claim without any evidence), the Warbirds Aviation Modelling Group has launched a combined physical and virtual display for the 2023 Australian Model Expo running this weekend here in Melbourne.
This year is the 40th anniversary of the Australian Model Expo, hence the theme of the display:
This is the pre-show display set up.
You can access the virtual display via QR code.

Pretty cool Michael @michaelt
G'day Tom (@tcinla),
Thanks.
Nice article, enjoyed reading the combat history of each P-40 model on display. One can never build too many P-40's IMHO.
G'day Tom (@tom-bebout),
Well, I built 6 for the display (the last three finished on the morning of the opening day) and paused one.
But, I've bought 4 more in the mean time.
It will be a little while before I build them, though I will finish the paused one.
So many countries, so many colorful markings, and not enough time to build them all. But I'm going to try.

G'day Tom (@tom-bebout),
I remember you posting those pics before.
I think I commented on there nit being any Aussies in the mix.
Something you need to remedy.
😊
Times like this I wish the country wasn’t quite so big!
G'day Emberson (@embersonfedders),
The tyranny of distance isn't just international.
I hope you make it over one year.
It has been 45 years since I visited WA and my wife and I have talked about heading over there one day.
Awesome models and ditto article, Michael!
Absolutely cool!
G'day Spiros (@fiveten),
Thanks, as always.
Looks like this is going to be an amazing exposition this weekend, Michael @michaelt
So much variations of P40's all together must be fantastic.
A pity I cannot make it in time.
G'day John (@johnb),
We were not the only club to choose the P-40 as a theme. I'll post pics of all the other clubs' displays soon.
Someone was thinking. A great use of current technology.
G'day Gary (@gwskat),
Thankyou.
We are all well versed in QR codes after the Covid experience.
