Another 1/32 Zoukei-Mura SWS Ho-229 Build
Well, it's certainly been a while since I last posted anything on iModeller, but I'm glad I'm back into building models again after a long haitus. I donated my last H0-229 to a museum and decided it was time to build one for myself. I learned a lot form the first build and applied some of that knowledge to this kit. There are still a couple of little things I should have done, but all in all I'm happy with the way it's progressing. The accompanying photos show some of the modifications I made to the engines. Most of the molded-in details were removed and replaced with scratch built or 3D printed parts. Plumbing was added with .010, .015 and .020 lead wire, Albion Alloys wire and tubing. I bought .STL files from Anyz of tubing fittings and printed them on my Anycubic printer. I also used braided line from Anyz. Paints used were from Mr Color, Mr Hobby, Alclad, AK, and Mission Models. I used several panel line washes, oils, and effects from AK and Ammo of Mig. All in all, these took about 50 hours (I'm a slow builder).
Glad to see you back at iModeler, George @georgelj
And you returned with an amazing engine, very realistic.
Thanks, John. I appreciate it.
Looks absolutely real, a real gem, George!
Great to see you back!
Thank you, Spiros. Glad to be back.
Awesome work George @georgelj! ๐ Man, that engine looks great! ๐
Thanks, Gary.
Back with a great to start to your build. If anything like your first one it will be amazing. Looking forward to seeing the ongoing build.
Thanks, Gary. I think this one might be even better. It's going to be westhered/distressed/aged and all that.
I remember your original build, George, Iโm sure itโs a prized exhibit at the museum. Youโve made a terrific start on this second attempt. Have you thought about doing a WIP over in the groups section here? If you did, we could all join in and comment on your progress.
Hey George. Thanks. I will do a WIP. I should have put this in that section.
That's great work on the engines. They look just like what I saw the one and only time the Planes of Fame He-162 was outside with the engine cowling opened up.
Thanks, Tom. Here's a pic of the engine in the Smithsonian.

Welcome back! Fantastic details, I guess this one will be even better than the museum edition ๐ @georgelj
